You come into Box Nutrition in Birmingham for your lab assessment. We measure your VO₂max, Critical Speed, and (on the Full Lab) your LT1 and LT2 through blood lactate testing. 75 minutes. Real data. Nothing estimated.

ABOUT JACK

The person behind the data

I'm Jack. I have an MSc in Sports Science, I'm VDOT qualified, HYROX Level 1 certified, and I've tested hundreds of runners in my lab at Box Nutrition in Birmingham.

I played rugby until my body said no. When that ended I needed something — and running gave it back. But I couldn't find a training system that matched the seriousness I used to bring to training camp. Data, structure, measurable progress. So I built one.

I'm not the fastest person in the room. I'm the one who can look at your data and tell you exactly what's holding you back — and exactly what to do about it. That's a different kind of useful.

Every test at Box Nutrition is done by me personally. Every block reviewed. Every result explained.

For the lab testing — yes. Box Nutrition is in Birmingham B24. Most athletes travel up to 50 miles. It's a 75-minute session that sets your training for 6 weeks — most people find it's worth the trip. All three options include at least one lab visit.
Every 6 weeks you retest your Critical Speed using a 3-minute and 12-minute maximal effort, a 5K time trial, or a full lab retest. Your zones update from the new data. Your training block regenerates. No guessing — just earned progress.
The lab data makes your coach's job easier — they get real numbers to work from instead of estimates. Most coaches welcome it. If you're on a generic plan, the test anchors every session in it to your actual physiology.
You need to be able to run continuously for 20 minutes. That's it. The test builds gradually — you're not expected to sprint. It works at every fitness level.
Yes — Jack is in the group. Members share results, ask questions, and hold each other accountable. Guest expert sessions are announced there first. It's not a notification feed — it's a genuine community of people who take training seriously.
